Another DIY project coming at ya! I have mostly been using free plans I find on Pinterest or other blogs to build things to gain experience. Occasionally I will modify them a little, but you’d be surprised at how many quality plans there are out there for so many different projects! There’s something for almost everything you’d ever want to build! So these outdoor planter plans came from Centsational Style here. If you want to try out this build, head over there for her plans!

They turned out super cute! I’ll be honest though, I thought I could replace one of the materials with a 2×4 rather than a 1×4 and it completely messed up the whole look so I had to start over! Lol, this is why we follow plans until we have more experience!! Anyways, so I scratched the entire first try and started over completely. Got it down the second time!

This was before putting the X design on there. I had a pretty hard time getting the angles right and actually ending up filling them with wood putty by the end of it but you can’t tell unless you look super close. Clearly geometry wasn’t my strong suit. I also completely skipped putting the X design on the back against the house…but it seemed kind of unnecessary? Lol. If I made them for a friend or family member, don’t worry, they’d be more carefully crafted.

I added a landscape barrier to the inside to protect the wood. You’ll definitely want to cut holes at the bottom for drainage too! I also added 4 1x3s with mitered edges to finish off the look on the top. This wasn’t included in the plans. See, I can sometimes successfully modify plans!!! Lol.

After I was done building, I stained them, then planted some small vines that should grow more, and little lavender trees. They smell amazing! I found them at our local Lowe’s.

Let me know what you think of how they turned out!
