Investing in Yourself

invest in yourself

I am a strong believer in investing in yourself. Spend the time, energy, and money on improving yourself and you will never regret it. Do it when you don’t feel like it, do it when you’re having a bad day, and do it when you’re tired, sad, happy, and everything in between! Don’t skimp on the energy you put into yourself – it’s the best payout! Here are my tips for how to invest in yourself.

Wake up Early

Set a time every day that you are going to wake up, and stick to it! The earlier the better, but make sure you still get enough sleep.

Read, read, read!

Read anything and everything you can get your hands on! As they say, knowledge is power, and reading is the KEY to knowledge. Read biographies, business books, self-help books, fiction, and anything else you find interesting and want to know more about. I find books help me to open my mind to other people’s experiences and life lessons, and I almost always can find a way to learn from it.

Make Time to Exercise

I try my best to make time to go to the gym and get in a good workout at least three times a week. If you can’t make it into the gym, just try to be active! Go for a walk, bike ride, or do some push-ups and jumping jacks at home.

Journal Daily

I will admit this is my weakness, I write (blogs mostly) every day, but I don’t journal as often as I should! I do think it is so good for your mental health and overall sanity! Releasing your emotions and feelings onto paper can be really therapeutic and end up making you realize something you hadn’t before you wrote it all down. Write down how you feel, what happened, what you are grateful for, and anything else that comes to mind. Plus, how fun will it be to go back in 10+ years and be able to read what you were doing and how you were feeling on any given day?

Make Conscious Food Decisions & Stock your Pantry

Eating healthy is the key to so many things in life. Great skin, a healthy weight, good moods, and maintaining good health. For my busy lifestyle, I find that stocking my pantry properly is helpful in allowing me to eat healthy on the go. Check your current pantry inventory, make a list of healthy, easy items that you like, and go to the grocery store at least once a week to make sure you have what you need.

Listen to Podcasts in your Downtime

Podcasts, like books, can be entertaining and informative! I listen to a current national & international news podcast every other day, or so, and try to listen to a few others every week on various topics. My favorite are the TED Radio Hour ones! They have a different topic every week and they really dive deep into their topics. They are incredibly eye-opening and give you a perspective on something you may not have ever known about in the first place! Not to mention, staying up to date on current events and going deeper into world issues and topics, can give you a real advantage when making small talk! I find the best time to listen to a podcast are in the car, or when getting ready for the day (showering, picking out clothes, doing hair, and makeup).

NO Excuses

Don’t get in your own way. There will always be a reason for you NOT to do something, but it’s your job to push through and do it anyway. Excuses are really just laziness! You’ll feel so much better after you accomplish whatever you are putting off. Working out after dreading it honestly feels so good! It is cathartic to sweat through your excuses and dread.

Enjoy Your Social Time & Disconnect from All Stress

Take some time out of your busy life to make social plans with your friends or family! It will help you reconnect and clear your mind. And when you do, disconnect from any and all stressors in your life. Forgot about that stupid work problem that’s been nagging at you, and enjoy the moment you have without any worries.

Now you know what to do to invest in YOURSELF, so get out there and do it girl!
