Wedding DIY: S’mores Favor Bags

The hubby (JC) & I got married back in May of 2019, and I am just now getting around to sharing all of my DIY tips & tricks and what we did to keep our budget low! We honestly were working with a pretty tight budget overall. The venue was at my parents’ beach house in Corolla, North Carolina, with the actual wedding on the beach. They graciously opened their home to almost 100 guests to eat, drink, and dance after the ceremony! Full photo gallery of our beach wedding here.

Today I am breaking down our wedding favors. After much deliberation and Pinteresting, we settled on s’mores treat bags for everyone. I think we spent a grand total of like $100 bucks on all 100 of them (I made a few extras so guests could take two if they wanted!). So at $1 a pop, I think it was a steal for these cute favors.

First, we picked up the treat bags and twine at our local Michael’s (similar twine and treat bags here on Amazon). We kept it simple here, just picking out a clear bag and white twine to make sure the bags stayed tight and sealed.

Then, I had to find a cute printable I wanted to use and customize it! I got mine on Etsy from Paper Dainty, customized it on the PDF, then printed it myself on this wonderful cardstock from Paper and More. I literally printed these out on my printer at home and it was surprisingly great quality! For reference, I have an HP 8610 printer – they’re fairly affordable! Another plus, since you can fit like 4 on one page, I only had to use about 25 pages of the cardstock. Once I had them printed, I took them to my local FedEx and used their large cutting table. It made the process go a lot quicker since I had about 100 to print. Once cut, I used a regular sized hole puncher to punch the holes at the top where the twine goes through.

Next, we got all the s’mores supplies! We used giant marshmallows (2 per bag), graham crackers, and Hershey chocolate bars. I stacked 2 of the graham crackers, then 1 Hershey chocolate bar split in two, and finally the two giant marshmallows on top.

At this point in the assembly, you just tie up the bag tightly and neatly with the white twine and include the hole punched labels in your tied up bow. You are all done! I would say this project took about 4-5 hours between gathering supplies, printing & cutting, and putting the bags together. But you could get some help and make it go a lot quicker!
